these are kinda old, but i thought i'd share them.
what's up with kids wanting to play in their parents' bedroom? my kids are always getting in there messing up my made bed and getting into stuff. i remember playing in my parents bed as a kid and it was so much fun! especially when they had a water bed ha!

honesty hour
i hate it when people go to things when they are sick. like really sick. ya know, with the flu...... or something really contagious. i know that people have lives and don't wanna stay home. but i dont want to get sick. and i feel it is common courtesy to not spread your nasty germs everywhere. who's got a judgy judge judy in her head? this girl!
with that said, i was that person on sunday.
last weekend was crazy. we had a church leadership thing friday and saturday, a birthday party (saturday), baby shower, and church on sunday. we kinda overbooked ourselves (eye roll). in my defense, this has not happened in a long time, and i learned my lesson this time. really.
our kids were already under the weather, stuffy noses and coughs, by the time sunday morning came, i could tell poor miss effi was not feeling herself. the thought entered my mind, "maybe we should just stay home today." i quickly brushed it aside because..... well honestly, i was looking forward to snacks at the baby shower. this is honesty hour right?
we left church early, got to the baby shower, deposited presents, ate a cookie. and IT happened. Effi threw up. ON ME. we gathered our things as quickly and gracefully as we could, i apologized profusely (who brings a sick kid to a baby shower?!) and we ran out the door.
then we did this all day:
so far no one else is sick. we watched three movies yesterday and relaxed. effi slept almost all day. we wished we had more days like this, minus effi throwing up of course.

honesty hour/restyled
honestly, there are usually things under my couch, in my couch, on my couch. but i grabbed my camera for these ones.
post christmas decor always feels so fresh and clean after your house is crammed with christmas. do you feel this way? a sigh of relief when its all put away? well, i've been sighing.
since this is an honesty hour. i will be honest. i am feeling a little blah about my blog. i feel i need some new fresh posts and i would like your feedback. will you tell me your favorite thing/post i do? and maybe something you would like to see more of?

vintage diy
i have been in a craft-funk. i'm itching to make but can't think of anything. i want to take pictures.... but of what? my kids? again? (jk)
also it's hard to get anything done (let alone be sane), when they dont take a nap.
so this project, from design sponge, was perfect. i actually had almost everything on hand. i was thinking i would have to go buy cedar shavings and then ashley english mentioned in her post that she raises chickens and so always has cedar on hand. oh yeah, i almost forgot, we have chickens (palm to forehead). zula and effi were very helpful at pulling the pine needles off the branches (effi was so into this), dumping everything on the floor (um... also effi), and almost cutting everyone's fingers off (that would be zula).
here they are, the little cuties.

Honesty Hour
do you ever find yourself judging other people? don't worry, i'll answer that for you: of course you do. we all do, right? i know before i became a parent there were all sorts of things "i would never do" that i totally do now. the moral of this story: the grass is always greener? um.... no that's wrong.
....... here is a confession, iused to judge other peoples' houses. not in a mean, critical way; but like "oh man that would drive me crazy" kinda way. ya know, those easy fixes that are bothersome, bad caulking (which i live with), holes in the walls that need to be patched (i got those too). well i have vowed, oh yes vowed, to never think that again. i would like to show you this. this, friends, is something that "would drive me crazy." let's be honest, it does drive me crazy. every. single. time. i look. at. it. and yet there it sits hangy and lopsided. i'm looking at it right now, actually and it's driving me crazy.
....... here is a confession, i

more green in my life
at the beginning of the year i decided i needed more plants in my house. i dont do very well with plants. so i've mostly stuck to succulents. they are so fun and weird looking and...... you can forget to water them and they dont really mind. here are some pictures from around my house of plants i am doing my best to take good care of.
i really really want some air plants. have you seen these before? they are so cool. their roots dont need soil so you can set them on tables or hang them upside down in cool planters. and they barely need any water. you stick them in a bowl of water for ten minutes once a week.

living in the present
when we were first married i longed to have kids; actually i don't ever remember not wanting kids. i assumed that the "waiting for the right time" would get easier, but it never did. i have always been so excited to be a mom, and honestly i'm surprised we made it four years before we finally started having babies.
i caught myself yesterday daydreaming about growing old with my sweetie. having an empty (and clean) nest, just the two of us finishing sentences and having lots of time together. i'm glad i caught myself. my second thought was "when i'm old i will probably wish my kids were little again." why are we always wishing or dreaming of what's to come instead of enjoying where we are at now. i know that i am getting much better at this (it was one of my new year's resolutions); but obviously i have room to grow.
it's funny because older people are always saying, "treasure this time, they are only little once." i always kinda rolled my eyes because i literally hear it about twice a week. lol
but it is so true. i am doing my best to enjoy this short season in my life.

honesty hour, in over my head
the husby recently graduated. he's done, already has a job and we are enjoying this new season in life.
so of course we all attended his graduation..... kids in tow.
what was i thinking? two little kids sitting way up in the bleachers for a graduation?
no way.
they were great for about an hour. then i realized that i was asking way too much of them. we took a little walk around the school, saw a clock tower (big deal!), walked across a bridge and rode in an elevator. we got back just in time to see aaron get his diploma, then we were off to eat cake
luckily i have amazing kids; and family that helped me out and kept me sane.

what has happened?
i am sitting here trying to think of something to post.
blank.
i took some pictures of the living room the other day, so i thought i'd do a living room tour. but they are awful. the pictures are too dark, the color is weird and honestly things are a little messy. how did i not notice this when i was taking them? so that's out.
i've had alot of time on my hands this week, which has been wonderful. usually i feel like i'm running around like a mad person cleaning so that when it is finally nap time i can do a fun project. not this week, i put the kids down for a nap and....... nothing. no inspiration, no excitement, no drive.
i know this is not bad. it's good. i'm not running myself ragged, i'm enjoying my kids, i'm keeping up with the housework. but honestly i'm feeling uninspired. i think i might go sit outside and read. i hope you are enjoying this weather.
and just so i don't leave you without any eye candy:
this is a tin i recently found. it is currently on the porch holding our chalk. i noticed the other day that there is a heart around the mountain peak. isn't that weird? what are they trying to insinuate? that we will "heart" their lard. ha!

honesty hour
well it's only been one night and the big kid bed has been a big pain in the you-know-what. we were all excited, zula was so excited. but she is also smart and does not want to sleep. she is busy and does not want to be still. she is wild and cannot be contained!
she knew we were outside working on the chicken coop, i caught her little eye peeking through the front door. do you blame her? we're out there sawing and hammering and she's inside "sleeping."
i was hoping when she woke up, this morning she'd play in her room for a bit. nope. i should have known she would be a hit the ground running kinda kid. i opened my eyes, heard her little running feet and, "good morning chickens!"
time to get up.
on a positive note. little miss effianna slept ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!! i should be a whole new women getting so many hours of sleep IN.A.ROW. but something is in the air, or the water maybe, or my brain. it is a crabby day. a put the kids in front of PBS so i can blog day. an i'm-gonna-pull-my-hair-out-at-730-am day. a we-ran-out-of-coffee-AND-milk day.
can i keep my peace even in days like this? can i relax while the sink is full of dishes, the rooms are turned upside down and we're eating an easy meal again.
challenge accepted.
ps i hope you all are able to read my humor in this. writing it out is helpful for me. therapeutic even. i'm more able to laugh it off and continue my day. so join the laugh with me. and i hope it helps you know that it's ok to have bummer days and it's ok to wanna just go back to bed but it's our response that matters. i also know that when i feel this way God can help me have extra patience and peace and turn my terrible morning into a great day.

Honesty Hour
oh man the state of things over here...... i'm getting ready for feather your nest, so i have crafting stuff all over. it's kinda driving me crazy. i have learned that the best way to motivate myself to get housework done is to have a fun project i want to do. i feel like i can't do my fun thing until i get everything else done! which is crazy i know because it's impossible. but i find myself being very productive so i can spend time on my fun project. the down side to this is..... well..... sometimes i don't get my fun things done when i want to. for example i really need to get things made for feather your nest but i keep running out of time to work on it cuz i'm doing dishes!! ridiculous. ha
oh! you don't know what feather your nest is? oh man you're not gonna wanna miss it. its a pop-up "boutique" with things from local crafters. their next boutique is the first weekend of may. i'm selling circle bunting and notebooks. i'm really excited to be apart of this event. i've heard it's super fun.
ps what are you doing today?

yes sometimes i dont make my bed. actually i didnt ever make my bed until pretty recently. i used to think it was dumb to make a bed that you were just going to mess up again that night. but then i climbed into my own freshly made bed and havent gone back since! its so nice to slip in between nice neat sheets!

honesty hour
this is what zula's hair looks like most mornings, and sometimes all day.
it is almost literally a rat's nest. in the second picture she's saying "no mama" cuz she didnt want her picture taken. ha!
see her giant monkey in the last frame? she got him for her birthday and does everything with him. he was having breakfast with her.

thankful tuesdays, V-Day edition
today i am thankful to have a warm house, treats and a thoughtful husby. there's nothing like a little something special to get your day started right.
i am also thankful for boxes. lots of boxes. we arepacking playing over here at the lee household.
i could make a list for you of all the things that have converged at once upon us, but that may make me even more overwhelmed. unfortunately this has resulted in too much time being productive rather than having fun and making special valentines for people :( ahhh next year i guess.
i was invited to a galentine's day brunch yesterday, if you dont know what that is youshould need to watch Parks and Rec. it was sooooo much fun and will hopefully become a yearly tradition. at the last second i remembered i had valentines that i made last year in the basement. luckily i tend to save ridiculous stuff like that because most of the ladies had valentines for one another. whew close one! ha
ps what are you doing today?
